Hot Rod Baits Bass Series: Lake Sugema

The first event of the series took place today and it will one that most anlgers will want to forget.  Air temperatures were in the 40s most of the day, coupled by light rain for about 6 hours of the event and wind gusts up to 25mph.  Needless to say it wasn't a comfortable tournament to fish.  However, no matter the weather or time of year, some team seems to figure something out to best all other teams.  Jeremy and Jon King were the those anglers today, they were the only team to weigh in 3 keepers and that put them as the Lake Sugema Champions and earned them huge Angler of the Year points in tat race, one that they won in 2016.
1st Place: Jeremy and Jon King
2nd Place: Kevin Christensen/Keith Donnelly
3rd Place and Big Bass: McKinley Geiger/Jake Olson

4th Place: Chris Calkins/Adam Rundall

5th Place: James and Zach Cook

Kings WIN at 12-Mile...Heim/Paulsen WIN Team of the Year

12-Mile Lake was the last stop of the Hot Rod Baits Bass Series for 2017.  Jon and Jeremy King dominated the event, winning by over 3 pounds with a limit of 21.37# of largemouth including the big bass of the event.
However it was Justin Heim and Andrew Paulsen that stole the spotlight coming in with a 2nd place showing and wrapping up the Team of the Year prize.  They finished 2nd at Hawthorn Lake, a win at Pool 9, and their 2nd place at 12-Mile didn't make the top spot a race at all.  They accumulated 9 more points than the runner-ups.  A fantastic year that may never be reated, congrats guys!
The Runner-Up anglers for the Team of the Year were Jeremy and Jon King.  They had a finish of 7th at Hawthorn Lake, 6th at Pool 9 and WON at 12-Mile Lake, a great year no doubt putting them in the 2nd place overall.
The third spot for Team of the Year consisted of a couple of new anglers to the tournament scene.  Keith Donnelly and Dave Wilson took 3rd place when all three events were finished.  They were 6th at Hawthorn, 3rd at Pool 9, and 8th at 12-Mile.  A great year, and will no doubt leave them hungry for next season.

Jeremy and Jon King Crowned State Champs

The Iowa Bass Nation Team Trail concluded this past weekend at Brushy Creek.  Pro-Staff members Jeremy and Jon King placed 3rd and became the Iowa Lakes Champions.  They also finished 2nd at Lake Okoboji in May.  This duo has proved once again that they are a force to be reckoned with around the state.  Congrats Jeremy and Jon, good luck at the national event, and keep throwing those Hot Rod Baits!

Heim and Paulsen take the WIN at Pool 9

Justin Heim and Andrew Paulsen found the winning combination at Pool 9 at the second event of the Hot Rod Baits Bass Series.  They fished swimjigs, jigs, and Hot Rod Bait tubes to catch their winning limit of 6 largemouth bass for 19.35 pounds.
They concentrated most of the tournament day in the southern end of the pool around rocks.  What a great day for the event, and some huge stringers brought into the weigh-in by this great group of anglers.  Congrats to all who placed!  Full results can be found on the TOURNAMENT PAGE.
