I grew up in Northeast Iowa fishing, and ice fishing the many small rivers available in that part of the state. I was also introduced to the Mississippi River several times as a youth. I attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated with an education degree. After college, I began my teaching career in Central Iowa. Marshalltown has been my home since the summer of 1999. I learned to fish the lakes of Central Iowa and Southern Iowa in my many fishing trips and bass tournament competitions. I began tournament fishing when I was 18 years old and compete in about 15 bass tournaments a year. I also enjoy conducting and organizing fishing tournaments. I am the host of “Central Iowa Fishing”, a 30 minute fishing show providing tips about panfishing, bass fishing, and ice fishing. The show airs on the local cable channel. I enjoy writing about the outdoors and have been published in newspapers and "The Iowa Sportsman" magazine. I mostly fish for bass, but crappie and bluegills are often sought after in my boat, along with my numerous ice fishing adventures. Spending time with friends and family, writing about outdoor adventures, and introducing people to the sport of fishing are my passions. I have written hundreds of outdoor articles for newspapers, I am currently being published in The Iowa Sportsman magazine, and the Times Republican Newspaper. In these articles I cover a variety of fishing advice, tips and techniques to help anglers catch more fish. You can also find me sharing information on fishing and ice fishing throughout the state at various seminar shows.
As a guide for Hot Rod Baits, I can provide you or your family members a day on the water, or ice that they will not soon forget. You pick whether to fish for bass or panfish out of a fully equipped 18-foot Ranger bass boat. You will be using the best rods and reels from Quantum on every cast. When ice fishing for panfish we will be using the best in electronics; Vexilar. Guided trips are located in Central Iowa and on rivers located in Northeast Iowa; including Pool 9, and 10 of Mississippi River.
